The 6th Annual Winter Wonder Ride is happening in Tampa tomorrow. It benefits onbikes. The Winter Wonder Ride takes riders through downtown Tampa and along the waters of Bayshore Boulevard before returning to Curtis Hixon park for our now-famous Post Ride Celebration!
This years theme is Get Frosty! So put on a top hat, grab a scarf, and show up in the craziest snowman combination you can think up. Snowman attire is strongly recommended because you will literally be the only one dressed like a normal person.
Tampa police escorted an 8-year-old boy as he was the last bicyclist in a seven-mile fundraiser called On Bikes, that raises money so foster kids can have bicycles.
His mother posted the video from Saturday, that was shot by his father, of the two officers flanking the youngster as he pedaled along.
His mother said, “He’s new to riding a bike.. he was the very last rider — out of a group of mostly adults. But he didn’t care.. and these tampa police department bike officers escorted him for the final stretch.”
On December 10, 2016, a menagerie of real life elves took to the streets of Tampa, Florida for onbikes‘ Winter Wonder Ride. The cause helped the Tampa non-profit collect funds for their annual bike build, which provides at-risk youth their very first bicycles.
While philanthropy sits at the heart of the event, the after party is always a major plus. This year, organizers tapped Big Boi to rock the party with a DJ set at Curtis Hixon Park. Tampa (FOX 13) – Little Jacob Mucci just started riding a two-wheeler 3 months ago according to his parents. But this past Saturday this 8-year-old rode 7 miles in the 6th Annual Winter Wonder Ride through downtown Tampa. The ride is a fundraiser with proceeds going towards the purchase of bicycles for at-risk and foster kids throughout the Tampa Bay area.
Jacob and his brother, Austin were also part of the 2016 Bike Build on December 4th hosted by the Tampa Bay Lightning where over 750 bikes were assembled for at risk and foster kids.
TAMPA, FL (WFLA) — Eight-year-old Jacob was the last to finish the onbikes charity bike ridethis weekend in Tampa, but he didn’t care. He was simply proud to be alongside Tampa Police officers.
The onbikes 6th annual Winter Wonder Ride was a 7-mile bike ride on Saturday, going from Curtis Hixon Park down Bayshore Blvd. and back to the park. The Ride raised enough money to purchase 800 new bikes for underprivileged and foster children around Tampa Bay.
Brittany Farnsworth, 27, of South Tampa, put tiny reindeer antlers on her dog, Bella, who participated with her in the third annual Winter Wonder Ride at Hyde Park Village.
“I used to cycle for Ohio State and I love seeing young kids getting involved in cycling,” said Fransworth, who transported her King Charles spaniel in a basket attached to her handlebars.
TAMPA — Bike riding reindeer, elves, Indian chiefs and ballerinas peddled down Bayshore Boulevard Saturday afternoon so that underprivileged children can peddle this Christmas, too.
For the third year, Onbikes, a non-profit group set up by Tampa businessman and former Florida State University quarterback Drew Weatherford and some friends, hosted the Winter Wonder Ride. And again this year, the event doubled in size.
