Gasparilla’s newest Krewe has a mission of giving

TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) – Each year, Ye Mystic Krewe of Gasparilla works to bring unique and diverse groups into the festivities.

This year, a new organization joins the Parade of Pirates. On Bikes is a 501(c)3 with a mission of donating new bicycles to at risk children. Jeff Lenderman is on the board of On Bikes and joined after a charity bike ride.

“I thought to myself, ‘this is an unbelievable movement.’ This whole thing where there is a philosophy of giving, not taking, being part of the community and giving bikes that our at risk youth and kids that are in foster care,” said Lenderman.

7th Annual Winter Wonder Ride helping bring bikes to kids at Christmas

TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) – The 7th Annual Onbikes Winter Wonder Ride will bring Christmas to Bayshore Boulevard.

As an official parade, the street will be shut down as thousands of people dressed as Santas, elves, reindeer, gingerbread men and more pedal their bikes from Curtis Hixon Park to Bay to Bay Boulevard and back.

“We’ll come back and have a giant dance party with DJ Jazzy Jeff and Salt and Pepa. It’s going to be absolutely amazing,” explained Julius Tobin, co-founder of Onbikes.

OnBikes holiday effort inspires cross-country cycling trip

TAMPA — In 2014 when Jenine Morehouse came across a Facebook post for OnBikes, a local nonprofit organization looking for volunteers to help build bikes for kids, she had no idea it would take her on a cross country cycling ride that would change her forever.

“A few friends and I went to the 8 p.m.-midnight bike build shift in a small warehouse with the members of Onbikes,” Morehouse said. “The positive attitudes and energy of everyone there was so inspiring.”

Winter Wonder Ride in Tampa

Santa’s Bike Shop: Volunteers assemble 800 bikes for underprivileged kids

TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) — The Amalie Arena was transformed into Santa’s bike shop on Sunday, as hundreds of volunteers turned out to assemble more than 800 bikes for underprivileged kids in the Tampa Bay area.

The non-profit organization onbikes put on the event leading up to the annual Winter Wonder Ride event next weekend. Their goal, just to put a smile on children’s faces this holiday season.

TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) — Grab your friends, grab a bike and enjoy the ride because onbikes Winter Wonder Ride is happening today.

The 6th annual Winter Wonder Ride community bike ride and fundraiser is being held at Curtis Hixon Park from 2 p.m. to 11 p.m – with the bike ride kicking off at 4:30 p.m.

You can expect a 7 mile bike ride, tons of local food and an exclusive performance from Big Boi from the iconic 2000s band, OutKast.
